Eagle Hill School Mission Statement

Eagle Hill is a language-based, remedial program committed to educating children with learning disabilities. The curriculum is individualized, interdisciplinary, and transitional in nature. A secure, structured, nurturing environment supports and stimulates the development of the whole child. As a result, children learn to view themselves as competent individuals with a strong sense of self.

In an environment that recognizes and embraces diversity, Eagle Hill teaches children an array of strategies and skills to manage their learning disabilities effectively at school and at home. Eagle Hill helps children gain the self-esteem necessary to initiate, nurture and maintain friendships. Inherent in the Eagle Hill philosophy is development of children with strong moral and ethical character.

Children leave Eagle Hill with confidence in their academic abilities, a true belief in their worth as human beings, and the strategies necessary to meet the challenges of their new school and social settings.

Welcome to Eagle Hill School. Over the past three decades Eagle Hill has firmly believed that children with learning disabilities can be incredibly successful if they are truly given the opportunity to learn. Eagle Hill is a child-driven school where each student’s ample strengths and specific educational needs are viewed as the perfect match for an integrated, individualized academic program implemented by highly trained, experienced special educators.

At Eagle Hill, children and faculty form a strong partnership in and out of the classroom as they take the educational journey, which will give students the durable skills necessary to return to traditional classrooms. Eagle Hill believes that students’ abilities, not their disabilities, will ultimately drive that successful transition from academic struggle to academic strength. Through extensive use of research-based strategies and materials, teachers help students develop a true understanding of academic content and an active learning style critical to educational success.

Outside of the classroom, as Eagle Hill’s mission statement says so well, “Eagle Hill helps children gain the self-esteem necessary to initiate, nurture and maintain friendships. Inherent in the Eagle Hill philosophy is the development of children with strong moral and ethical character.” We believe in the education and nurturing of the whole child in preparation for students’ successful, active participation in an increasingly complex, exciting world. I have had the distinct pleasure and honor of helping to lead this wonderful school since its inception in 1975. It has been a wonderfully rewarding and exciting experience for our family and me. Eagle Hill has been able to attract and retain an extraordinary faculty dedicated to increasing outcomes in all areas for all students at Eagle Hill. Eagle Hill is a nationally recognized leader in the education of bright children with language-based learning disabilities.
